Surrealistic, digital photo collage based on two old black-and-white photographs of dancer and spy Mata Hari, here placed in a new construction project with a desperate German officer in the background.
I have given Mata Hari color and some extra body volume (where in the original black and white photo she just had an artificial wasp waist). I think she's so much prettier that way. The officer is from a black and white photo from WW1.
Mata Hari has become an icon: dancer, spy, femme fatale and in this digital version perhaps at her very best - especially with that little extra volume.
This artwork will only be sold once. As soon as there is a buyer, I will remove it from my shop. A unique ode to the mysterious Mata Hari.
Although working as a lyrical chronicler, sometimes I see things that are not there; I photograph and edit them.
