The picture is titled Sunbeams, although - as I have just learned through brief research - the designation Cloudbeams would be the much more appropriate. And even that is rather misleading. Basically, what we see is the shadow cast by the clouds that are in front of the sun from our point of view. For this to happen, the atmosphere must contain a particularly large number of water droplets and / or dust particles. These scatter the light of the sun, rays become visible, in contrast to which the shadow areas stand out. That much for the gray theory. However, I am anyway in favor, whether with or without background knowledge, the resulting unique moments just to enjoy and take a short vacation for the soul.
