To the north of the Schloßberg, the Finkenherd adjoins the Schloßplatz. Here are some very old half-timbered houses, which are overlooked by the nearby castle and the collegiate church of St. Servatii. According to legend, the German kingship is said to have been offered to the Saxon Duke Heinrich at this place in 919 while he was catching birds.
The Finkenherd 1 house is a building dating from the late Middle Ages in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt, which has been a listed building since the 1970s and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
