About the artwork
Standing on the carousel of time, there are the reflections of things that passed in summer, winter, spring and autumn. The latter as the season of saying goodbye, while it equally holds the promise of so much again.
It is saying goodbye to the old familiar, in that mood of melancholy: the wistfulness for what was, that was good, even if it was not always so. It is looking back to the past and yet being allowed to come back again, whether in a different form or not. It is the warming promise of a return, of returning.
As the light outside gradually changes and the sun gets lower, the days get shorter and the nights longer and winter time creeps closer from summer time, colours and light take on a deeper meaning.
Autumn as a season is many things while still exuding tranquillity. It is the transience, the circularity of these months that fuels each subsequent seasonal start.
Until it too will merge back into the carousel of time.
