I discovered this radiant, colourful splendour of flowers during my autumn photography trip to the island of Sicily.
The flower motif was taken on 28 October 2024 in the early, sunny morning hours with the NIKON D800 camera (lens: NIKKOR 24.0-70.0 mm f/2.8).
This vigorous climbing plant is known for its eye-catching, trumpet-shaped flowers.
The flowers appear from midsummer to early autumn, usually in orange to scarlet, but some varieties can also have purple tones.
The American climbing trumpet (Campsis radicans) is considered slightly poisonous and the sap can cause skin irritation.
Trumpet herb (Strobilanthes rankanensis)
This is an unusual perennial plant that grows to a height of around 1.50 metres.
It blooms extremely profusely with breathtakingly beautiful, purple, trumpet-shaped flowers.
