About ‘Portrait of a Fatou a Gambian woman.’ by Ineke de Rijk

Gambia the smallest country in Africa with a colorful population and own culture. Beautiful and inspiring country where I have lived for over 15 years. And I also worked as chairman of the St. Care Foundation The Gambia setting up various projects.

Ineke de Rijk's inspiring travels

From the Algarve to The Gambia

I have time to draw and paint more after years of volunteer work for the St. Care Foundation The Gambia. Inspiration I got in the Gambia where I also lived. The colors, the population and life is a great source of inspiration. But also the quieter life now is inspiring to use softer colours and to work more with pastel chalk. But still it's nice to work in all kinds of colours and to try out new techniques and new materials.
