About ‘Watercolour of a pollard willow in blue and silver.’ by Ineke de Rijk

The pollard willow is a sturdy tree you see everywhere in the Netherlands along the ditches, it is part of the Dutch polder landscape. It is pollarded in spring, meaning pruned, so that its branches grow back up nicely. Painted here with blue and silver alcohol ink. The ink runs through each other, so it looks like a watercolour…

From the Algarve to The Gambia

I have time to draw and paint more after years of volunteer work for the St. Care Foundation The Gambia. Inspiration I got in the Gambia where I also lived. The colors, the population and life is a great source of inspiration. But also the quieter life now is inspiring to use softer colours and to work more with pastel chalk. But still it's nice to work in all kinds of colours and to try out new techniques and new materials.
