Ikey: The news that war (Feb '22) had broken out in Ukraine hit me. My initial feelings of helplessness and disbelief alternated with sadness and anger. I painted these feelings away from me in this portrait.
The background is yellow and blue, the colours of the Ukrainian flag. In the yellow part I stamped some unevenness. The portrait emerged intuitively, with the music of the Ukrainian national anthem in the background.
The red spheres represent the war, which Vania is facing just like that, without being able to do anything about it.
The red stripes represent the blood that flows and at the same time form bars, which prevent her from living in freedom.
