The Ponte Vecchio (literally the old bridge) is the most striking and oldest bridge in Florence, still in existence. It was designed by a student of Giotto, Taddeo Gaddi and was finished in 1345. Anyone who has ever been there knows that this bridge is known for the many stores on and near the bridge. There are especially many jewelry stores to be found. The bridge consists of three arches, of which the middle one is the largest with its thirty meters length. In the middle of the bridge is a bust of Benvenuto Cellini, an Italian artist who began his career as a goldsmith on the Ponte Vecchio.

I made the painting as a gift for my father-in-law who gave us this trip to Florence as a present. He has been coming to Florence for years and showed us all the beautiful places there. I thought it was special to walk from the pleasant bustle to the quieter area (one bridge further) and took this picture there. It was fun to paint the beautiful old buildings with the bridge after our trip. The wide river Arno and the cloudy sky make you feel there but very small in that incredibly beautiful and big city.

The painting has been photographed in such a way that the structure of the watercolor paper is still clearly visible. This has the advantage that it looks even more like a real painting, despite being a print.

I used the following colors: blue, green, red, yellow, orange, black (for drawing the lines with a pen) gray and brown.
