About ‘Pink wall with green door in Collioure, Southern France’ by Jasmijn Brussé

In Collioure, where the Pyrenees seem to gently disappear into the sea, a narrow alleyway slowly climbs between old stone houses. The afternoon sun glides along a pink wall, warm and powdery in colour, as if it has been preserving the light for centuries. The paint is not perfect; small cracks and stains tell stories of summers, wind and time. At the end of the wall is a green door, slightly sunken in the shade. The green is deep and weathered, with scratches around the handle from hands that have opened it for generations.

The alley is quiet. Only the soft murmur of the sea, somewhere in the distance, reminds us that Collioure was once a fishing village. Perhaps behind the door lives an old woman who opens her shutters every morning, or an artist who once lingered here, seduced by the light that gives even shadows colour. Everything comes together in this single image: the slow rhythm of the south, the boldness of colour, and the feeling that you are allowed to get lost for a moment. A place that asks for nothing except to be looked at. 📍Collioure, Southern France
