Peacock amidst pink and golden feathers by Lina van Oers

This colourful painting centres entirely on the impressive plumage of a peacock. The bird itself is positioned in the centre, but is almost completely surrounded by large, decorative feathers. The distinctive peacock eyes are painted in combinations of deep petrol, dark blue, black, ochre yellow, soft pink and warm orange. The repetition of the rounded shapes creates a rich pattern that fills almost the entire canvas.

The thick brushstrokes lend the painting a great deal of texture. The feathers are not depicted in a photorealistic manner, but are instead painted in a loose and expressive style. This gives the painting a modern and decorative feel. The peacock looks to one side and is framed by its feathers, making it almost seem as though it is hiding amongst its own striking tail.

This painting is ideal for an interior where colour and personality play an important role. It fits beautifully in an eclectic living room, a colourful dining room or a maximalist interior. The shades of pink, orange and petrol blue combine well with velvet, brass, dark wood and rich fabrics. But even in a calm, beige interior, this piece can serve as a striking splash of colour. Hang it above a sideboard, armchair or low cabinet and echo the colours in cushions, vases or accessories. A striking piece of art for anyone who loves animals, patterns and warm colours with a luxurious feel.
