Where did you get your news from when TV and the internet did not exist, and by no means everyone had an (expensive) radio in their home? From the newspaper! And of these, fortunately, there were quite a few. All with their own angle.
Here we look at a proud French entrepreneur standing in front of his book and newspaper shop with family and staff. You don't need reading glasses to see which newspapers he sells. National dailies like France-Soir and Paris-Presse, and a whole row of regional newspapers: Sud-Ouest, La Liberté du Centre, La Patriote du Sud-Ouest, La Marseillaise du Centre and so on. Most of these magazines were spin-offs of World War II resistance newspapers. Only Le Courrier du Centre was a stone-age newspaper.
Where this picture was taken? Judging by the newspaper names: in south-west France, near Bordeaux. On the Rue de la République. But then again, there are more of those...
