Palacio de la Aljafería
The Aljafería (Arabic:قصر الجعفرية Qasr Aljafariya, Spanish: Palacio de la Aljafería) is a palace surrounded by a fortress, built in the second half of the eleventh century in Zaragoza as the seat of the Banu Hud dynasty during the reign of Abu Jaffar al-Muqtadir. The palace is an example of the heyday of the taifa Zaragoza. Today, the Aljaferia serves as the seat of the Cortes (the regional parliament) of the autonomous region of Aragon. It is the only major structure preserved from the time of the taifas. Along with the mosque of Cordoba (from the 10th century) and the Alhambra (from the 14th century), the Aljaferia is one of the three most important structures of Moorish architecture.
The palace is part of the group inscription Mudéjar architecture of Aragon on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
