This tower, which adorns the Haarlem industrial district of Waarderpolder, is a so-called blast tower and dates from 1972. This tower is 112 metres high and was built within twenty-five days. Initially, it provided the connection between Nederhorst den Berg and the IJmuiden National Coastal Station, a month later the tower was switched on for telephone traffic from Haarlem to Amsterdam, and after a year the tower was connected to the ring network for the whole of the Netherlands.
