From far outside the city of Haarlem, the Grote or St. Bavo Church can already be seen. The wooden, lead-clad tower is 78 m high. This medieval Gothic cruciform church is one of the largest churches in the Netherlands. Unique in the interior are the beautiful wooden vault, the famous Müller organ, the copper choir screen, the many stained glass windows and the 400 tombstones on the floor, of Frans Hals and Willem Bilderdijk among others.
