About ‘PASSAT | Lübeck Travemünde’ by Olliventure

The Passat lies in Travemünde like an old lady who never really wanted to retire. A real windjammer treasure from 1911, she looks as if she could set sail at any time, but in reality she is more likely to send tourists across the gangway than get herself underway. You walk on deck, sniff the salty wind and think: "I'd like a holiday like this, but without all the work."

Right next to it: the Priwall. It's actually just a small spit of land, but for northern Germans it's a bit like having your own garden with a sea view. A bit of nature, a bit of camping, a bit of a walk on the beach.

And Travemünde itself is so charmingly sleepy that you sometimes think the clocks are ticking slower just to enjoy the fresh smell of fish and the promenade. The beach chairs stand there like faithful sentinels, tourists sit in them and think: "Jo, it's nice to be here." In the evening, the sun sets over the Baltic Sea - and you feel like a real Northern Lights poet, only without having to write the poem.
