About ‘Oude Maasje Waalwijk-Doeveren’ by Hans Janssen

This is where the Koningsvliet meets the Oude Maasje. On the other side runs the Maasdijk (Zomerdijk-Heusdenseweg), lined with a long row of beautiful trees. Every time I cycle from Heusden via the polder to Waalwijk, I cross the Koningsvliet. There’s a little road leading off to the rear. It piqued my curiosity, and recently I walked there at the end of the day. Eventually, you can go no further and find yourself at the Oude Maasje.
The confluence of waters, with the Waalwijk lock on the left and a view of Doeveren on the right. And opposite, on the dyke, a ‘lonely cyclist’ rides amongst the trees. The shifting (evening) light, the fresh greenery and the clouds made it a special place to take photographs.
