I took this photo in Osaka, Japan. For my work I was allowed to go this way and in advance I had marked some locations to photograph, including this location from the roof of the "Umeda Sky Building".
Armed with tripod, camera and some lenses, I headed in this direction. Once I arrived at the building, I had 2 options. First, the amazing escalators that lead you to and from the observation platform and, of course, the view from the roof.
First up were the escalators. I had gone just before closing time which had 2 advantages. The stairs are beautifully lit then and there are almost no people going up.
The challenge lies in making a sharp image because the stairs are not stationary. With a bright wide-angle lens and a steady hand and the right settings, you get a long way. In the end, I went up and down several times until I was satisfied with the result.
With this, it's half over for me. The other half to make the work suitable for my shop at work on the wall, I do at home with the necessary post-processing of various photo programmes. All in all, this takes time, but if the end result is what I had in mind, I am very satisfied and this work will not look out of place on your wall.
