The Opel Kapitän was the cheapest model and had a horizontally manufactured radiator grille as an external distinguishing feature and altogether less chrome trim, e.g. no decorative strips on the wheel arches. And also the Opel logo made of aluminium on the hood was designed differently and wider. After his first engine with 100 hp was too weak, in September 1965 he got an engine with 2.8 litres capacity and 92 kW (125 hp) transplanted under the bonnet. In the same period a Kapitän A V8 with a 4.6-litre Chevrolet V8 engine with 140 kW (190 hp) was also offered, but after 113 vehicles, this was already over.
