Oostmahorn Lighthouse: A Historic Landmark on Lake Lauwers by Fotografiecor .nl

This image captures the iconic Oostmahorn lighthouse during the blue hour. The cooler tones of the evening sky contrast beautifully with the warm, historic character of the building. The composition not only captures the architectural lines, but also emphasises the serene, almost melancholic atmosphere that prevails on the shores of the Lauwersmeer.

As a photographer specialising in Dutch maritime heritage, I see this tower as more than just a navigational landmark; it is a symbol of the Lauwersmeer’s transformation from an inland sea to a nature reserve. By capturing this beacon during the blue hour, I am documenting the soul of Anjum. It is my mission to give this often-overlooked piece of maritime history the attention it deserves.

This piece is perfectly suited to a modern-industrial or minimalist interior, where the blue and dark tones create a sense of depth and tranquillity. I recommend a finish on acrylic glass or brushed aluminium, which enhances the play of light and the sharp lines of the tower in an almost tangible way.

Bring the mysterious serenity of the Frisian coastal landscape into your home. Let this unique piece of maritime heritage enrich your interior and experience the magic of the blue hour at Lauwersmeer anew every day.
