Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘One World Trade Center in the New York skyline’ by Mick van Hesteren

At 541 meters, the One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the Americas. From the Brooklyn Bridge we had a great view of this skyscraper. Because of its geometric design, I chose a symmetrical crop.

On this bucket list trip to New York with my father, I decided to deliberately limit myself a bit photographically. I took "only" my backup camera (a Canon D600) with the smallest and cheapest lens I had (a Canon 50mm F/1.8). This first of all because we flew with only carry-on luggage, but definitely because my creativity is always triggered more when my options are limited. Hurricane Ian made for gray skies, but that made the photography on this trip wonderfully moody and autumnal.

It was a dream come true as I finally walked the streets of New York with my camera in my hands. If you see my other work you can see that urban photography and photos of architecture are my favorite niche. It was great to finally be able to do this in the Big Apple.
