About ‘On the net’ by Marieke van Rijsewijk
The tension of a decisive moment captured in a minimalist composition. A tennis ball hovers above an abstractly rendered net, whilst warm shades of ochre, cream and blue come together to form a harmonious whole. The visible brushstrokes and gentle movement give this work a modern, gallery-worthy feel.

My work stems from a fascination with form, tranquillity and simplicity. I draw inspiration from nature, but also from everyday moments and small details that often go unnoticed. Gentle movements, organic shapes and natural tones play a central role in my work. Through my art, I want to slow things down, create space and show that there is great beauty to be found in the small and simple things.
