The Wadden Sea is the largest wadden region in the world. This shallow sea consists of bottom sand which is washed up from the North Sea by sea currents. Because a mudflat is flooded by the tide twice a day, the current takes mud with it. At high tide it settles in quiet places. The Sahara sand gives the sky a beautiful red colour.
