Just a collection of shells. Shells that are many years old and may have been through quite a journey through the sea and across the seabed.
The old shells are broken and weathered. The beautiful ribbed top of some shells is coming off and in some specimens it has already disappeared completely.
These shells make me curious. I am then curious about where they have been and how the mollusc inside lived. And I am also curious about what the shell originally looked like, in all its glory.
The shells come in different patterns and colours. The colours are soft blue with grey and orange with yellow and brown. These colours remind me of the sea and the beach. The blue of the sea water and the warm orange-yellow of the beach sand. They are soothing colours and colours that look great in a natural interior, an interior with rustic elements of nature and the corresponding soft natural tones.
To emphasise the oldness of the shells, I mixed the photo with a second photo: this second photo I took from an old slate. The rough structure of this stone gives an extra old atmosphere to the shells photo.
Beautiful as a work on the wall but also wall-filling as wallpaper.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
