About the artwork

Oedipus is a figure from Greek mythology, depicted here in a drawing, illustration or print in brown, black and white.

This sphinx kills anyone who cannot solve the given riddle. The riddle is: "Which creature walks on four legs in the morning, two in the afternoon and three in the evening?" Edipus solves it and rids the city of the monster.

A sphinx is a mythical creature found in various cultures. Here the sphinx is half man, half angel with wings. Actually, the Greek sphinx is half woman (head), half eagle (body).

Johannes Josephus Aarts (The Hague, August 18, 1871 - Amsterdam, October 19, 1934) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman, lithographer, engraver, etcher, publicist, illustrator, teacher at academy, director of academy, professor, sculptor and book designer.

Jan Aarts studied at the Academy of Art in The Hague. He worked in The Hague until 1911, and in Amsterdam from 1911 to 1934.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
