Weiße Brüche (white quarries), that's the name of the quarry area between Stadt Wehlen and the spa town Rathen. In history, there were countless quarries here. What came to light was white sand, which was used primarily in the glass industry and for the production of scouring sand and detergents. Today, the traces of quarrying are unmistakable, but they blend quite well into the landscape.
