PAINTER OF FARM HORSES
The long search for farms with working horses has cost me a lot of effort, energy and countless hours of travel. Haphazardly calling vets, farriers and stallion owners and writing to studbook organisations. A tip-off about images on television of a farmer ploughing with a four-horse Gelderlander horse was reason to call the broadcaster immediately.
By getting in touch with companies like cattle feed manufacturer Wessanen, my first watercolours of farm horses could be used for multiple purposes. When an interview appeared in the trade magazine 'De Boerderij', a publisher responded, laying the foundation for my first record book on working horses.
Technique: watercolour/aquarelle paper.
