New Boeing 737 MAX for American Airlines.
The Boeing 737 MAX is the successor to the Boeing 737 Next Generation series. The 737 MAX is the fourth generation of the Boeing 737 family, the main difference being the use of the larger and more efficient CFM International LEAP-1B engines and modifications to the fuselage.
In December 2015, Boeing had 3,072 listed orders for the new aircraft; by August 2018, this had risen to 4,664 units. The 737 MAX made its maiden flight on 29 January 2016, almost 49 years after the very first 737 flight, which was made on 9 April 1967. Delivery of the first 737 MAX followed in 2017.
In March 2019, following the crash of 2 aircraft (from Lion Air in October 2018 and Ethiopian Airlines), all 737 MAX aircraft were temporarily grounded for safety reasons.
This photo was taken on 5 August 2024 at Renton Municipal Airport. Renton is 1 of 3 airports in and near Seattle where Boeing has factories where mostly passenger planes are built.
