On the walk 'The Promising City' in the footsteps of Piet Mondrian in Amsterdam, you will end up on the Amstel, Amsteldijk and Weesperzijde, among others, within walking distance of his house on Albert Cuypstraat.
He paints moored boats on the water there. In other works he makes on the Amstel, such as Tjalks moored on the Weesperzijde and Evening on the Weesperzijde, he is mainly looking for how to give his work something intimate.
The New Amstel Bridge is a double bascule bridge over the Amstel and a bank connection between Amsteldijk and Weesperzijde.
The bridge was opened on 5 July 1903 and its architect was Hendrik Petrus Berlage.
The bridge replaced the Amstel ferry from Ceintuurbaan to Blasiusstraat and was therefore named Nieuwe Amstelbrug, the bridge was given this name because the Hogesluis was nicknamed Amstelbrug.
Tram line 3 has been crossing the bridge since 1904.
My lens was particularly drawn to the beautiful Art-deco lampposts.
It fits in with the times of today and gives the classic of the times once upon a time and so does an interior, it fits both modern and classic interiors.
I am already looking forward to the continuation of this walk and the story accompanying it about Piet Mondrian.
