Vietnam, Con Dao - The picture shows a single stone covered by a dense layer of shells and barnacles on the beach. The stone is half-embedded in wet sand, indicating that it is regularly reached by the tides. The different colours of the rock - from ochre-coloured deposits to dark areas smoothed by seawater - reveal that it has been in a marine environment for a long time. Both smaller barnacles and the remains of larger mussel shells have settled on its surface, which in nature are known as "hard substrate colonisers" and are typical of coastal zones with regular tidal ranges. The stone thus becomes a small micro-habitat in which various organisms find shelter, support or a source of food. The find conveys both originality and a certain aesthetic rawness: a natural sculpture, moulded by the sea, shaped by life. The motif is suitable for themes such as coastal ecology, marine biology, natural structures, beach scenes or macro-documentation of marine life forms.
