At the mausoleum of Ismael Moulay in Meknes, you are struck by the simplicity of the space, but it is precisely this simplicity that emphasised the details. Mosaics are everywhere, in clean lines and patterns without being too much. The arches above the doors are beautifully designed, with subtle decorations that stand out even more in the light of the courtyard. The courtyards themselves are open and restful, without much embellishment, but the combination of the architecture and the sky above creates a special atmosphere. I walked around with my camera and kept marvelling at how simplicity and detail come together. Photographing the arches, mosaics and courtyards felt almost like a voyage of discovery, where every corner offered something new to capture.
