The world is still, as if holding its breath. The first light of day glides gently across the mud flats and vast sandbanks, where the tide is slowly receding.
A salty smell of seawater and seaweed permeates the coolness of the morning. Footsteps in the wet sand disappear almost instantly, swallowed up by the soft puddles left by the tide.
Along the horizon, the sky colours from deep blue to soft shades of red. Shells glisten like tiny jewels and the water reflects the awakening light, as if the sea itself breathes a sigh of relief.
In the distance you can hear the gulls, their cries echoing across the empty beach, and somewhere in the distance an oystercatcher crows, undisturbed in the early serenity.
The chill of the night lingers for a while, but it promises to be a day of clarity and calm. Here, where land and sea meet, time seems to slow down for a moment.
The dawn on the mud flats is not a cry of light, but a soft whisper: an invitation to stand still, watch and listen to the world awaken.
