The monk vulture (Aegypius monachus) is a vulture that can be found in Asia as well as in Europe - especially in Spain. It is a large bird of prey from the family Accipitridae and belongs to the group of vultures of the Old World. The species builds its nest in trees, in montane forests.
The vulture is a large vulture, 100 to 110 cm long with a wingspan of 250-295 cm, a weight of 7-12.5 kilograms.[2] This vulture has a brown-black plumage with a lighter, broad head with a grey-brown beak and long "fingered" wings of which the fingers are remarkably long. The naked neck is blue-pink with a brown collar. At a distance the bird makes a very dark impression.
The food consists of both fresh and decaying carcasses, devoured with skin and hair. Even the bones are eaten. Live animals are also prey. He's forming vomit balls.
