The photo shows a typical Dutch sky, light blue with a few soft white clouds, divided into 2 halves. The left half, slightly lighter blue in color, is the original sky. The right half, slightly darker blue in color, is a reflection. This reflection is a mirrored house in the middle of the dunes. The whole house is mirror on the outside, so it becomes one with the surroundings.
I took this picture with an old analogue camera. This immediately provides a nice contrast to the image. A mega modern house in the dunes and an abstract graphic image. Not something you would immediately think of with an analog 35mm film image. And therefore all the more fun! Because of the film used, the blue gets a nice soft color.
I stayed a few days in this house and this picture says how I experienced the house. One with the surroundings, yet the house is clearly present from the outside seen. Once inside the cottage, you can look all around but not be seen. This creates a kind of distance with the outside world, while on the other hand you can keep an eye on everything and it seems as if you are outside. A beautiful experience!
