A simple but powerful work of art made from just a few elements.
Sometimes I go to a second-hand shop to see if I can find something I can use in my photography.
One day I saw a flower press there for drying flowers and leaves. Dried flowers and leaves I sometimes use to take photos or to incorporate into a painting.
The nice thing about this flower press was that it still contained old dried flowers and leaves. I could tell they were old by the newspapers and other papers that had been used to put the flowers and leaves between. A particularly nice discovery that was!
One of those surprises was a small and fragile sprig with flowers on it.
To turn this into a special work of art, I used a material with a special structure: this pattern resembles cells of a living organism. This cell pattern is connected to the flower as a living organism. Behind the flower, I put a round circle to symbolise the sun (by adding a second picture of a glass ball). After all, the sun is the source of all life on earth.
This artwork with natural elements has common ground with the minimalist style from Japan. For me, it symbolises the circle of life.

I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
