Minimalism is a lifestyle but also a style in architecture, music and art. In all these forms, it is based on the 'less is more' principle: less is more.
Minimalism is about making what is really important to us and removing everything that does not help.
In photography, minimalism is photographing nothing, or rather almost nothing. The focus is usually on just one subject. The so-called negative space around it reduces the image to its essence. Avoiding distractions, leaving only the essentials.
In realising this picture, I was lucky that the weather conditions lent me a hand. A freezing night put a white layer on the grass and the morning fog also made the background largely disappear.
In post-processing, I then went on to find the elements that were superfluous to represent the feeling I wanted to achieve: winter, cold and misty. So the remaining colour went out and so did the last bits of background and surroundings. With this as the result.
