Architect Santiago Calatrava's famous building complex in Valencia, Spain, reflects in the surrounding water. A huge eye appears in the architecture of this imposing building. The people in the foreground emphasise the enormous size of this building. The setting sun adds colour to the image and emphasises the lines of the extraordinary structure.
Every time I am here, I am impressed again by the place, its size and the complexity of lines and arches. I tried to bring this together in this image. Choosing the cropping like this gives emphasis to the 'eye'. Around it, the structure is visible. This is cut off and therefore fills the frame. This enlarges the abstraction.
The water plays an important role. The reflection makes the buildings even more imposing than they already are. It lends itself ideally to creating an exciting rendering.
