About the artwork

Bring the enchantment of the Dutch polders to your interior with this breathtaking photo on the wall!

The Marsh skullcap, also known as Scutellaria galericulata, is a charming native plant often found along the banks of Dutch polders ditches and in grasslands. With its subtle blue flowers providing a vivid contrast to the green foliage, the blue skullcap is a symbol of the natural splendour our own country has to offer.

The name 'gluttons' comes from ancient folk medicine, where the herb was used to heal wounds and relieve pain. Although its medicinal use has declined in modern times, the blue glidweed remains a much-loved sight in the Dutch landscape because of its aesthetic value and ecological importance.

A member of the plantain family, blue glowwort thrives in moist conditions and thrives in the fertile soil of polders. It also attracts various insects, such as bees and butterflies, which feed on its nectar and contribute to the biodiversity of the environment.

For nature lovers and photographers, the blue glade offers an inviting subject to capture, with its fine details and vibrant colours marking the seasons. Whether it serves as a subtle backdrop in a lush meadow or as the shining focal point along a rippling ditch, blue glidweed reminds us to appreciate the simple yet wondrous beauty of nature that surrounds us.
