Margarita Trip teaching her sister Anna Maria Trip as Minerva, Ferdinand Bol, 1663 In 1662, the wealthy Trip family moved into Amsterdam's most stately private building. Above the fireplace in one of the private rooms hung this portrait of two of the Trip daughters: Margarita, wearing a helmet and breast armour, as Minerva (goddess of arts and sciences), with her eleven-year-old sister Anna Maria kneeling down eager to learn. In reality, Anna Maria was taught by a private tutor.
