About the artwork
The Kiss, Love Couple ( Der Kuss, Liebespaar ) by Gustav Klimt, 1908 - 1909, is one of those works of art in art history that almost everyone knows. The work, which falls under the Art Nouveau, or Jugendstil and Wiener Sesession movement, is decorative and ornate in nature.
With this digital artwork, the color and basic composition of the original is retained, but the effect is abstract and expressionistic in nature. With loose brushstrokes and splashes the figures take shape. The main focus is now really on the kiss, the intimate embrace of the two people in the center of the painting. Because the painting is a lot narrower than the original it gets a very unique look. Very nice for example in a stairwell or on a small, narrow wall.
