Michael Ladenthin is a German artist born in 1963 who grew up in the Ruhr area, where he also lives and works. Further information can be found at www.michael-ladenthin.de.
Ladenthin's artworks are characterised by a unique mix of expressionist and realistic elements, based on abstract processes. Using the primary colours yellow, cyan and magenta, complemented by white and black, he creates random structures that can represent stories, dreams or psychotic states. What is particularly fascinating is that he deliberately leaves parts of his pictures unprocessed, giving the viewer room for their own interpretations. These open areas make it possible to recognise one's own images in the abstract forms and to add individual scenes.
A particularly emotional work by Ladenthin is the painting "Liebe-2024". The original measures 60 x 60 cm and is executed in mixed media (oil on acrylic). It shows a heart in a powerful, expressive painting style. This heart, embedded in generous areas of colour, is reminiscent of both the fine structure of a brain and the fragile surface of foil packaging. This multi-layered depiction encourages us to reflect on the fragility and complexity of love. The open, untreated areas of the painting leave plenty of room for personal interpretation and invite the viewer to reflect on their own feelings and thoughts.
Ladenthin's "Love-2024" is more than just a painting; it is an invitation to explore the depth and complexity of one's own emotions. Further information and a gallery of his impressive works can be found on his website: www.michael-ladenthin.de.
