The Lori of the Blue Mountains is a strikingly beautiful bird. The head is bright blue with an orangey beak colour. The breast is uniform orange and the belly is blue. The back is green and a yellow-green band runs across the back of the head. Lori's of the Blue Mountains grow to about 30 cm tall and have a ring size of 7mm. The difference between a male and a female cannot be seen in the hand; sex differentiation can only be made via endoscopic or chromosomal examination.
This photo was taken in the animal park Hoenderdaell where you can leave the according on your shoulder if you buy a bowl of food ;-)
SOS Dolphin, the sanctuary for Grays and other dolphin species, is also located here in this park.
