The long-eared owl is slightly smaller and appears more slender than the tawny owl. Notable are its long, often upward-pointing ear tufts and orange-yellow eyes. However, when it sees something in the decor, they flap backwards. It is found in various landscape types where open fields are present with plenty of field mice. That is why it is so special that there was a nest in my backyard in Bunnik. Of course Bunnik is a natural environment with Rhijnauwen but a nest in with houses all around you don't expect.
