About ‘Le Grand Cairn de Barnenez’ by Dolm

Le Grand Cairn de Barnenez is located on a hill overlooking Morlaix Bay in Brittany. It is one of the oldest monumental stone structures in Europe. Archaeologists date the complex to around 4,800 to 4,000 BC. This makes it older than the Egyptian pyramids, older than the Drenthe dolmens and older than Stonehenge.

The cairn consists of an artificial hill of stacked stones. It is approximately 75 metres long and 25 metres wide. The structure contains eleven burial chambers. Each chamber has a long, narrow corridor leading to a central space. Large upright stones form the walls. Cover stones lie on top of them, forming a ceiling. The whole structure is covered with layers of smaller stones.

You can read this representation as a comic strip. This allows you to see various details and take a virtual walk along the structure.

The artwork was created in a digital drawing programme using virtual ink and a virtual brush. This reinforces the comic-like character, as many comic artists work in the same way.

Dolm is the studio of Harry Wibier. Among other things, he likes to be inspired by prehistory. Hence, you sometimes recognise cave drawings or dolmens in his work. At the same time, he seeks the connection with the here and now. Hence his motto: "Ancient magic in modern art."

Harry does not have a set method or way of working. He prefers to experiment. That way, he keeps surprising himself and his audience. He has, however, developed a passion for ink lines…

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
