Tunnelling crane in the old steelworks
In 1901, the Thyssen-Eisenwerk blast furnace complex in Duisburg was established to process iron ore into steel. It played a crucial role in the industrial development of the Ruhr region. After the closure of the plant in 1985, it was decided to give the site a new purpose. Thus, in 1994 Landschaftspark Nord was created, a project that brings together nature, culture and industrial heritage in a unique way.
