About ‘Landmannalaugar’ by Arnold van Wijk

Landmannalaugar (meaning: hot springs in the land of the people from the Land region (an area around the town of Hella)) is a valley in the interior of Iceland, to the east and not far from the famous Hekla volcano. The valley is known for its rhyolite rock. The surrounding rhyolite mountains are very colourful: yellow, red, brown and grey-green. A characteristic feature of this rock is that even a little sunlight makes the mountains seem to glow, often giving them a very ‘bright’ appearance. The Laugahraun lava field, which opens out into the valley, contains a great deal of the rare obsidian, a black glass-like rock also known as volcanic glass. Hot and cold springs emerge at the foot of the lava field. The hot sulphur springs flow into a stream, making this an excellent place for bathing even in cold weather. The area is part of the Fjallabak Nature Reserve

I'm a Dutch landscape photographer, born in The Hague, june 18th 1966. I started making pictures at the age of 14, with a Yashica Minister III rangefinder. Landscape and Nature photography has always been my favorite subject, especially Italy, Scotland and Iceland are my favorite countries. I hope you will like my photographs.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
