Jan Bakker is expeditieleider, gespecialiseerd in gebieden die niet bekend zijn bij het grote publiek, waaronder Irak, Afghanistan en Libanon. Hij schrijft artikelen over expedities in extreme berggebieden voor Nederlands- en Engelstalige tijdschriften.
