Lake Braies is located in the Puster Valley in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. The marvellous landscape offers wonderful photo opportunities throughout the day. Particularly charming and romantic shots can be taken at night. This photo was taken with a long exposure. Due to the long exposure time, the stars in the sky appear as bright stripes (due to the earth's rotation).
Lake Braies is located a few kilometres south of Alta Pusteria between Brunico and Dobbiaco in the Braies Dolomites. The marvellous landscape offers wonderful photo opportunities all day long.
It is the largest and deepest natural lake in the Dolomites and lies at an altitude of 1,496 metres above sea level. The lake covers an area of approx. 31 hectares. The lake has an average depth of 17 metres and a maximum depth of 36 metres. The lake is dominated by the imposing massif of the Seekofel (2,810 m) and is the starting point of the Dolomites High Trail No. 1. Lake Braies was formed a long time ago by a mudslide. The lake is part of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park and is a protected natural monument.
