La Liberté is a building in the city of Groningen. The striking building is located on the Vrijheidsplein, diagonally across from the Gasunie building, near the A7 motorway. Construction started in 2009 and by the beginning of 2011 most of the building was finished.
The design of La Liberté is by the French architect Dominique Perrault (known from the National Library of France). The building consists of two towers, which are respectively about 35 and 72 meters high. A parking garage has been placed underneath the entire building. In the lower part of both towers office space is planned, above will be social housing, which will be rented by the housing corporation Patrimonium. Both towers were completed in the course of 2011. Between the office floors and the residential space there is an " open" space of approximately five meters, which contributes to the modern appearance of La Liberté.
