About ‘Kohlberg, Saxon Switzerland - Rowan berry’ by Pixelwerk
The rowan is a fairly undemanding tree. This makes it easy for the plant to find areas for growing even in Saxon Switzerland, where the soils are partly sandy. The bright red berries are, of course, the eye-catcher. In the past, they were used to attract and capture birds. Hence the German name Vogelbeere.

A warm welcome to Pixelwerk, photographs from the heart of Saxon Switzerland. My name is Kevin Walther, I am a photographer at Zwo hoch 3 - PixelWerk. From Königstein I set off to rediscover the beautiful Elbe Sandstone Mountains in new ways. This creates pictures of exciting landscapes and dreamlike nature. They are testimonies of numerous hiking tours somewhere between adventure and relaxation.
